The film begins with CIA agent Evelyn Salt being released from a North Korean prison, thanks to the help of Mike, a German arachnologist, who is a highly public figure. This is noted as against the CIA's wishes, who considered her expendable. Salt marries Mike after this ordeal.

The film cuts to Salt who, along with fellow agents Winter and Peabody, interrogates a Russian defector, Orlov, who tells her about "Day X", an operation organized by a powerful Russian spymaster during the Cold War, which will bring about the destruction of the United States. Orlov claims that for this purpose, during the 1970s an elite group of Soviet agents were trained from birth in such a rigorous way that their psychological conditioning makes them "unbreakable". He mentions that at the funeral of the recently deceased US Vice President in New York City, the visiting Russian President will be killed by Russian spy Evelyn Salt, whose real name is Chenkov.

Salt, shaken by the accusation, attempts to contact her husband Mike, fearing for his safety. Meanwhile, Orlov escapes, prompting Salt to bolt — causing the CIA, and especially Peabody, to think she is a spy. She flees to her apartment and finds her husband missing. Salt quickly grabs essentials as well as a venomous spider. After barely escaping a pursuit on the busy Washington, DC expressways, Salt takes a bus to New York City. The next morning, now disguised, she sneaks into the heavily guarded St. Bartholomew's Church where the Vice President's funeral is being held and shoots the Russian President. She is then confronted by Peabody and surrenders but soon escapes the custody of the NYPD.

A series of flashbacks show Salt growing up in the Soviet Union where Orlov taught her and many other children to obey him and ingratiate themselves to the American government. Then, when it came to Day X, he would command them to strike from various positions in the US. In New York, Salt meets Orlov, who congratulates her on her killing, but questions her unauthorized decision to marry a foreigner - who might be a distraction from her mission. He takes Evelyn to a river barge, where he tests her allegiance by having another agent kill Mike in front of her. Salt appears to be unaffected by this, thus passing Orlov's test. He then tells her Part Two of Day X, which would involve seizing the United States' stock of nuclear weapons. The enraged Salt - who had gone to Orlov in an attempt to save her husband - kills Orlov and everyone else on the barge in revenge. She then goes to the rendezvous set up by Orlov to meet a NATO mole, Shnaider, whom she recognizes from her childhood trainee days under Orlov.

Shnaider and Salt (disguised as a man) go to the White House. Once inside, Shnaider suddenly starts shooting at Secret Service agents and detonates himself. The Secret Service, along with Winter, rush the President to the lower bunker of the White House. Meanwhile, the President, believing Russia is preparing a nuclear strike against the US, begins to transmit the launch codes from the nuclear football. Salt infiltrates the bunker and incapacitates the bodyguards. At the last moment, Winter suddenly picks up a gun and kills everyone but the President, whom he knocks unconscious.

Winter explains to an astonished Salt that he was also one of Orlov's Day X trainees back in the Soviet Union, and therefore part of Orlov's plan all along. Winter then uses the nuclear football to start the sequence for launching nuclear missiles directed at Tehran and Mecca in an attempt to provoke the Islamic world to wage war against the US. Salt asks Winter to let her in but before he opens the door, a TV news report reveals that the Russian President is not dead, but only placed in a near-death state from spider venom. Winter thus realizes that Salt is not on his side, noting that Mike's intervention at the North Korean ordeal allowed her to shed her loyalties to Orlov. Salt however manages to break in to the bunker, and after an intense struggle, she succeeds in knocking him down and manages to abort the nuclear missile launch set up by Winter. At this moment, another group of agents break in and arrest her. Winter, whom no one suspects as being a double agent, initially goes free, but moments afterward, Salt uses her chains to strangle him to death.

Salt is put on a helicopter with Peabody, and explains everything to him. A skeptical Peabody finally accepts she is telling the truth after he receives a text message saying that her fingerprints were found at the barge, confirming her betrayal of Orlov. They both know that there are more of Orlov's moles, and Peabody agrees to let her go, so she can find and kill them. He uncuffs her and Salt escapes by jumping into the Potomac River.

In the year 2154, the RDA corporation is mining Pandora, the lush, Earth-like moon of the planet Polyphemus, in the Alpha Centauri system.[16] Parker Selfridge, (Giovanni Ribisi), the administrator, employs former marines as mercenaries to provide security. The humans aim to exploit Pandora’s reserves of unobtanium, a valuable mineral.

Pandora is inhabited by the Na’vi, a paleolithic species of sapient humanoids with feline characteristics. Physically stronger and several feet taller than humans, the blue-skinned indigenes live in harmony with Nature and worship a mother goddess called Eywa.

Humans cannot breathe Pandora’s atmosphere. In order to move about Pandora uninhibited, human scientists have genetically engineered human-Na’vi hybrid bodies called Avatars, which are controlled by genetically matched human operators. Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), a paraplegic former marine, arrives on Pandora to replace his murdered twin brother, an Avatar operator. Dr. Grace Augustine (Sigourney Weaver), the head of the Avatar Program, considers him an inadequate replacement for his brother, relegating him to a bodyguard role.

While Jake is escorting Augustine and biologist Norm Spellman (Joel David Moore) in their Avatar forms, the group is attacked by a large predator, and Jake becomes separated and lost. Attempting to survive the night in Pandora’s dangerous jungles, he is rescued by Neytiri (Zoë Saldaña), a female Na'vi. Neytiri brings Jake back to Hometree, which is inhabited by Neytiri’s clan, the Omaticaya. Mo'at, (C. C. H. Pounder), the Na'vi shaman and Neytiri's mother, instructs her to teach him their ways.

Colonel Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang), the mercenary leader of the security forces, learns of Jake’s relationship with the Omaticaya, and offers him the chance to walk again in exchange for providing intelligence about the natives and learning what it will take to make them abandon Hometree, which rests above a large deposit of unobtanium.

During the next three months, Jake becomes close to Neytiri and the Omaticaya, and begins to prefer the life he lives through the Avatar. Jake's attachment begins to erode his loyalty towards the corporation and the humans (a phenomena called in the past "going native") and when he is finally initiated into the tribe, he and Neytiri choose each other as mates. Jake's change of loyalty is revealed when he disables a bulldozer as it destroys the Tree of Voices; upon seeing this, Col. Quaritch forcibly disconnects him from his Avatar, and presents Selfridge and Augustine with a vlog in which Jake had admitted that his mission was fruitless; that the humans had nothing the Omaticaya considered to be of value and that they would never abandon Hometree. This convinces Selfridge that negotiations would be fruitless and he orders the destruction of Hometree by a military strike.

Augustine, whose research suggests that all organisms on Pandora are linked in a vast bio-botanical neural network, protests at the destruction of Hometree, but Selfridge persists, allowing Jake only one hour to convince the Na’vi to leave before Col. Quaritch’s forces arrive. When he reveals the true nature of his mission to the Omaticaya, Neytiri accuses him of betraying them, which results in Jake and Augustine's temporary imprisonment. Jake’s time runs out and Quaritch’s forces destroy Hometree. Eytucan (Wes Studi), Neytiri's father and clan chief, and many others are killed in the attack. Jake and Augustine are once again disconnected from their Avatars and detained for treason against the humans. Trudy Chacon (Michelle Rodriguez), a security force pilot who is disgusted by the violence, breaks them out but Augustine is wounded by the ruthless Quaritch during their escape. With Augustine in a critical state, Jake turns to the Omaticaya for help. Searching for a way to regain their trust, he remembers that Neytiri told him that only five Na'vi had ever tamed the Toruk, an immensely powerful flying beast. Successfully taming it, he flies to the Na’vi, who have gathered at the sacred Tree of Souls. He pleads with Mo'at to heal Augustine, who is now dying. They attempt to transplant her soul into her Avatar but fail.

With the assistance of Neytiri and Tsu'Tey (Laz Alonso), the new leader of the Omaticaya, Jake vows defiance against the humans, and assembles thousands of Na'vi from other clans. Jake prays to Eywa to intercede on behalf of the Na'vi in the coming battle. Col. Quaritch, seeing the Na'vi's growing strength, orders a preemptive strike on the Tree of Souls, as it is the center of Na'vi religion and culture; its destruction would leave the Na'vi too demoralized to continue resisting the humans.

As the humans move against the sacred site, the Na’vi fight back fiercely, but human technology and firepower outweigh their bravery; they suffer heavy casualties, among them Tsu'Tey and Trudy. When all hope seems lost, the Pandoran wildlife suddenly attacks the humans in great numbers, overwhelming them in the air and on the ground. Neytiri interprets this as Eywa answering Jake's prayer.

Quaritch orders the bombing of the Tree of Souls but Jake destroys the bomber before it can reach its target. Quaritch escapes in an AMP (Amplified Mobility Platform) suit. He finds the Avatar interface pod, where Jake’s human body is located, and attacks it, damaging it and exposing Jake to Pandora's atmosphere. Neytiri kills Quaritch and saves Jake, seeing his human form for the first time. With the human attack successfully repelled, they reaffirm their love for each other.

The defeated humans are expelled from Pandora, while Jake and his friends remain. Jake is seen wearing the insignia of the Omaticaya clan leader, suggesting that he has become the new leader after the death of Tsu'Tey. The film ends with Jake's consciousness being successfully transplanted into his Na'vi Avatar.

The film tells of a journalist's probe into the suspicious death of a Congressman's mistress. Russell Crowe plays the journalist and Ben Affleck plays the Congressman. The supporting cast includes Rachel McAdams, Helen Mirren, Jason Bateman, Robin Wright Penn, and Jeff Daniels. Macdonald said State of Play is informed by the films of the 1970s, and explores the topical subjects of journalistic independence and the relationship between politicians and the press. It was released in North America on April 17, 2009.

Plot :
One night, a thief is fleeing through Washington, D.C. at night and is killed by a man carrying a briefcase and a handgun with a silencer. A pizza delivery man who witnesses the incident while riding his bicycle is shot by the killer and is left in a coma. The following morning, a young woman is killed by a subway train in an apparent suicide. Congressman Stephen Collins (Affleck) is distraught to hear the news, as the woman was Sonia Baker, a lead researcher on his staff. Collins, who has military experience, is leading an investigation into PointCorp, a private defense contractor with controversial operations involving mercenaries. Reporter Cal McAffrey (Crowe) was Collins' college roommate, and the two discuss Sonia's death. Collins reveals that he had been having an extramarital affair with Sonia, and that Sonia had sent him a cheerful video message on the morning of her death, which he believes is inconsistent behavior for someone about to commit suicide. Della Frye (McAdams), a reporter and blogger with the online division of Cal's newspaper, discovers that Sonia's death occurred in one of only three CCTV blind spots on the subway platform. Cal believes the shootings are related to Sonia's death and finds a link between the thief and a homeless girl who sought out Cal. She gives him photographs that the thief, a friend of hers, stole from the killer's briefcase. The photos show surveillance images of Sonia talking to a well-dressed man.

Della visits the hospital where the pizza delivery man is regaining consciousness. She meets a man while exiting an elevator. She witnesses the pizza man in his hospital bed shot dead by an unseen sniper. Dismayed, she returns to her newspaper's office and reviews CCTV footage; she recognizes the man she met at the hospital on the footage from the subway platform and at the elevator in the hospital. Cal asks a connection he has inside PointCorp to find information regarding the man. He reveals that PointCorp stands to gain $40 billion annually from its mercenary activities in the Middle East and domestically. Cal speaks with Collins, who shares his research findings — PointCorp is cooperating with other defense contractors to create a monopoly and purchase government surveillance and defense contracts, essentially privatizing United States security.

Cal's PointCorp insider returns with the address of someone linked to the suspected assassin. Cal visits the address to find the assassin living there. Terrified, Cal makes an excuse and tries to leave. Stalked by the man, Cal calls the police who arrive and force the man to disappear after he shoots at Cal. Della, following a lead, finds the identity of the well-dressed man speaking to Sonia in the photographs — a PR executive working for a subsidiary of PointCorp. Cal blackmails him into talking about his activities with Sonia, and secretly tapes their conversation. The PR excecutive reveals that Sonia was paid to spy on Collins for PointCorp, but that she loved Collins and was pregnant with his baby when she was killed. Before Cal's newspaper goes to press, Collins goes on record to present his research into PointCorp. Collin's wife Anne reveals that she knows about the money paid to Sonia and after Stephen and Anne leave, Cal realizes that Stephen knew already that Sonia was working for PointCorp. Cal then wonders what Stephen would have done had he known he had been tricked and whether Stephen himself is connected with the assassin and looks at Stephen's old military picture for clues.

The military picture confirms Cal's hunch, and Cal rushes to Collins' office to speak with him. Collins reveals that he had been suspicious of Sonia, and that he hired the assassin to watch her. The assassin is Corporal Bingham, a former military colleague of Collins', whose life Collins had once saved. Collins says that Bingham didn't trust Sonia and killed her with no authorization from him. Cal tells Collins that he has three minutes to leave his office before the police arrive, as he's already contacted them. Cal goes to his car where he is confronted by Bingham, who says he will kill for a friend. Cal ducks, and the officers whom Cal called arrive and shoot Bingham before he opens fire. At the office Cal and Della type up their story with an altered version of Bingham's death (the story indicates that Bingham had committed suicide) and noting that Collins was arrested before they leave the office together. The film credits roll with footage of the newspaper being printed.

I think this one is Hilariously Funny!! made me laugh all the way through.. My Favorit part is when Doug was found and hes all red by sunburn coz he was locked on the hotel roof. and the way Tracy asked at the wedding "Why are you so RED?" I rofl!

Doug (Justin Bartha) is about to be married to Tracy (Sasha Barrese), and his friends — Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), and soon-to-be brother-in-law Alan (Zach Galifianakis) — take him to Las Vegas for a bachelor party. Tracy's father lends them his car, a vintage Mercedes convertible for the trip. The four get a villa at Caesars Palace hotel and casino, then sneak onto the roof and toast to the night ahead. The next morning, the three groomsmen wake up in the suite with no memory of the previous night, and realize that Doug is missing. Clues abound: the suite is in severe disorder, a tiger is in the bathroom, a baby is in the closet, Stu is missing a tooth, one of the suite's mattresses is impaled on a statue outside, Phil is wearing a hospital bracelet, Stu has an $800 ATM receipt, and a valet brings them a stolen police cruiser they dropped off the night before.

While retracing their steps, a doctor at the hospital informs them that they had traces of roofies in their blood, explaining their memory loss, and that they came from a wedding. They find the chapel, and learn that Stu, despite planning to propose to his controlling girlfriend Melissa, married a stripper named Jade (Heather Graham), the mother of the baby in the closet. The men visit her apartment and return the baby, but are taken by surprise and arrested for stealing the police cruiser. Phil negotiates their release in exchange for the three groomsmen "volunteering" as targets for a taser demonstration. They then retrieve the Mercedes from an impound lot and discover a naked Asian man in the trunk. The man attacks them and runs away, and Alan admits to spiking their drinks the night before with what he thought was ecstasy, but realizes the drug dealer must have sold him roofies instead. They return to the hotel and find former boxing champion Mike Tyson in their room, who was looking for his stolen tiger. Tyson knocks out Alan and orders them to return the pet to his mansion. They drug the tiger with roofies and transport it in the Mercedes, but before they reach Tyson's mansion, it wakes up and destroys the car's interior. Tyson plays security footage of the groomsmen's activities from the night before in an effort to help them locate Doug.

Resuming their search, the three are confronted by the thugs, who, as it turns out, are led by the naked man they found in the trunk of their car, Leslie Chow. According to Chow, the groomsmen have $80,000 of his money, which they accidentally took the night before. Chow demands it back in exchange for Doug, whom he has kidnapped. Unable to find the money, Alan uses his knowledge of card counting to win it playing blackjack. The money is repaid, but Chow had kidnapped a different Doug, who turns out to be the drug dealer who sold Alan the roofies. After a conversation with the Doug the drug dealer, Stu remembers that hotel windows do not open in Las Vegas, and deduces that the mattress on the statue must have been thrown from the roof, and therefore they must have locked a sleeping Doug on the roof as a prank. Rushing back to the hotel, they find him with less than four hours before the wedding. Stu and Jade agree that they cannot remain married, but promise to meet the following weekend to see what develops between them. Jade also reveals that Stu had pulled out his own tooth on a dare from Alan. As they rush home and make it to the wedding, Doug discovers he has Chow's $80,000 worth of casino chips in his pockets. Doug marries Tracy, and Stu breaks up with Melissa. As the reception ends, Alan reveals a digital camera he discovered in the back seat of the Mercedes chronicling the events they were unable to remember, and the four agree to look at the pictures only one time before destroying the evidence.

The movie begins with Micah testing out and playing with his camera. He wishes to film the strange and paranormal things that have been happening in the house. A psychic is called in and learns from Katie that she has been haunted by a ghostly entity since her youth. The psychic informs the couple that they are being plagued, not by a ghost, but by a demon. He says that no matter where they go the demon will follow as it is haunting Katie herself. The psychic explains that the demon feeds off negative energy, so the couple must do their best not to antagonize it or give it more power by fighting with each other. Micah continues his project. A camera is set up in the bedroom and every night it captures what happens as they sleep. On the first night nothing happens, but after this, strange but minor things begin to occur. The bedroom door moves by itself and the lights turn on in the hallway on their own. Each night, when the incidents occur, a low droning noise is heard on the camera. One morning, Micah goes around the house with his camera and openly asks the demon if he should get a Ouija board. When he plays back the audio on his computer, a low inhuman growl is heard after he asks the question. Katie protests his intentions of getting a board and Micah reluctantly agrees not to buy one. Against Katie's wishes, Micah borrows a Ouija board to speak with the demon. He sets it up in the living room but Katie yells at him and they argue and go outside of the house before Micah can begin talking with the demon. While they're gone, a strange "wind" blows through the living room and the board begins to spell words on its own and catches on fire. A strange image is burned into the board when Micah and Katie return.

Strange things continue to happen to Katie at night, usually around 3:15 A.M. One night, Katie gets out of bed and stands right next to the bed for hours, doing nothing but staring at Micah. After this, she proceeds downstairs. Micah wakes up, goes down, and finds her sitting outside on a swing. The next morning she does not recall doing this. The strange occurrences begin to escalate. One night, the couple hears a loud bang and then a door slams. They find nothing out of place except that a chandelier downstairs is swinging very slowly. After this, Katie then agrees to let Micah try one more experiment. Should it fail, she will call a demonologist that the psychic recommended to them. Micah lays down several patches of baby powder to catch the demon's footprints. During the night the couple awakens to the sound of something walking down the hall and into their room, they find the demon has left several footprints within and near the powder, footprints that are distinctly not human. Going further into the hall, Micah finds the attic door open. He goes up to the attic and finds a photo of Katie from when she was young that is charred at the edges. Katie is shocked to see the photo and says it's impossible for that photo to be in the house because it was burned to ash in a fire that consumed the home she lived in as a child. She then asks Micah where in the attic it was found and he says it was laying above where their bed would be. The next morning Katie calls the demonologist, but finds that he is out of town. She then sets up another appointment with the psychic for the next day. The psychic arrives and upon entering the house, is overwhelmed by the negative energy from the demon. He quickly departs saying that his presence only angers the demon and there is nothing he can do. The nights become more chilling as the sheets on their bed begin moving by themselves. One night, Katie is yanked and dragged screaming out of bed and into the hall by an invisible force. Micah awakens, gives chase, and forcibly takes her back. The next day, Micah has Katie show bruises on her skin and a large mark on her back that resembles a bite.

The activity soon begins to occur during the day, indicating the presence in the home is getting stronger. During one afternoon a photo of Micah and Katie is smashed, with glass cracks and what appears to be claw marks going through Micah's side of the portrait. They make plans to go to a hotel that night, hoping the demon will not follow them immediately. But later that day, Micah finds Katie sitting on the floor in a daze with her back against the wall, gripping a crucifix tightly in her hand. In helping her up, Micah notices blood on her hands and leg from the crucifix. He then lights the fireplace and burns the cross and the scorched photograph of Katie that he found in the attic. Later, Micah tells Katie, who is lying in bed, to get their things together so they can leave the house. Katie now refuses, saying that she wants to stay. She tells Micah to trust her. He leaves the room in anger and she whispers that "everything will be fine from now on." She closes her eyes and gives a disturbing smile to the camera. That night they are seen sleeping and the droning noise starts again in the background. Katie suddenly sits up, then gets out of bed and stares at Micah. She stands there, unmoving, when suddenly the sheet slowly pulls off Micah; Katie moves around the bed and stares at him for two more hours. At about 3:35 a.m. she moves to the bedroom door and exits, going down the stairs into the darkness. Suddenly, Katie screams for Micah, who jumps out of bed. As he hits the staircase, the droning noise becomes increasingly lower pitched and demonic. The camera sees nothing but the bedroom and the dark hallway, but the activity downstairs can be heard. Katie continues to scream; some struggling is heard, followed by dead silence. Moments later, heavy footsteps can be heard. Unexpectedly, Micah's body is hurled towards the camera. He collides with it and both fall to the ground, where Micah remains motionless. Katie stands in the doorway with blood on her shirt. She crawls to Micah's body and, like an animal, sniffs at him. She sees the camera and smiles at it eerily, her face contorted and evil, suggesting that she has been possessed by whatever has been haunting her. Katie lunges toward the camera with a loud scream, her face demonic, and the screen cuts to black. The world is in ruins after an apocalyptic event that is never described. A father and his son are walking south in an attempt to escape the increasingly cold, endless winter. Along the way they have to avoid gangs of lawless killers. Their only weapon is a pistol with 2 bullets. The father has dreams about his wife, who killed herself before the story begins. On the road to a better place, they encounter cannibals and organized militants, as well as other refugees. At one point they find an intact bomb shelter filled with food and supplies. Rather than remain in this sanctuary, they continue on because they have not yet reached the coast. The only named character they encounter in the entire book is an old man who says his name is Ely. Ely is harmless and alone and they share a meal and talk for a bit. They find out Ely is not his real name and he created this false name in order to keep from being found by other refugees. They eventually part ways.

The whole journey is a struggle to survive in a world no longer capable of sustaining life. They almost lose this struggle when a thief makes off with all their worldly possessions, and the Father nearly loses his struggle to hold on to his humanity in taking those possessions back. The boy is all that keeps him barely human. The boy is his warrant, in his own words.

In the end, they reach the coast but find it is no different, no better than the place they left behind. The father finally succumbs to the illness that has plagued him from the beginning, dying and leaving the boy alone. But he is not alone for long before another finds him, another man holding on to his humanity -- only he's been a little more successful because he had help. Now the boy has a family.

The Haunting in Connecticut - Movie 2009

After seeing the effect the long commute has on Matt, his family rents a nearby house, which they learn was previously a funeral home. They discover a mortuary room in the basement and the family begins experiencing violent and supernatural events that the parents initially blame on stress and hallucinations from Matt's treatment[1]. Matt also experiences visions from the perspective of a young man named Jonah. Matt contacts a minister he met at the hospital for assistance with his paranormal experiences. The minister informs Matt that the visions and supernatural encounters are likely a result of the previous occupant's occult activities (including séances and necromancy)[1]. The Jonah character is discovered to be the ghost of a psychic medium involved in the previous owner's activities and presently bound to control the "spirits" within the house.

The film comes to its climax when Matt learns the source of the haunting and tries to rid the house of the undesired spirits[1].

An 11-year-old schoolboy in Las Vegas, Nevada named Trevor McKinney (Haley Joel Osment) is given a class project to complete by his social studies teacher Eugene Simonet (Kevin Spacey), a man with terrible burn scars on his face and neck. His task is to come up with a plan that will change the world through direct action. On his way home from school later that day, Trevor notices a homeless man, Jerry (James Caviezel) and decides to make a difference in Jerry's life. Trevor then comes up with the plan to "pay it forward" by doing a good deed for three people who must in turn each do good deeds for three other people, creating a charitable pyramid scheme. Trevor's plan is to help Jerry by feeding and housing him so he can "get on his feet."

The next morning, Trevor's mother, Arlene McKinney (Helen Hunt), a single mother recovering from alcoholism, becomes angry with Trevor after finding Jerry in their house. She then accuses and confronts Eugene at the school about the reason Trevor has allowed Jerry into their home. Eugene is also intrigued by Trevor's response to the social studies project.

Later that night back at their home, Trevor confronts his mother about her alcoholism, and in a fit of anger she slaps him across the face. Trevor runs away from home, and Arlene asks Eugene to help her find him. They find Trevor at a bus station, about to be molested. Trevor and Arlene embrace in relief after Arlene apologizes profusely.

Meanwhile, Chris (Jay Mohr), a journalist, is trying to find out why a total stranger gave him a brand new Jaguar S-Type car after Chris's old 1965 Ford Mustang was damaged in a car accident. The stranger's only explanation is that he is simply "paying it forward". When Chris asks him for more information, the man explains that, when he recently visited a hospital while his daughter was suffering an asthma attack, a gang member suffering from a stab wound actually took up a gun to force the doctors to look at the man's daughter before she collapsed, prompting Chris to begin his search again.

After Trevor's apparently unsuccessful attempt to help Jerry, he decides to help Eugene by setting him up with Arlene, Trevor's own mother. Their relationship grows in strength until Arlene's ex-husband, Ricky (Jon Bon Jovi), who claims he has "changed" and has quit drinking, shows up unannounced and Arlene decides to give him another chance.

When Arlene later tries to explain her choice to Eugene, the audience learns how Eugene's burns were the result of terrible child abuse by his father. Eugene is concerned not just about the abusive and violent nature of Trevor's father, but that the simple absence of a loving father is detrimental to Trevor's well-being. He explains that his father was always abusive of him and his mother always took him back. At thirteen, Eugene ran away from home and returned home when he was 16, asking his mother to come with him but his father knocked him out and proceeded to burn him, resulting in a number of scars on his chest. Arlene feels that she must nevertheless give her ex-husband another chance, but shortly thereafter he becomes angry and violent and it appears that he has not in fact stopped drinking alcohol. Arlene realizes what a terrible mistake she has made. She feels that Eugene will never take her back, and Eugene for his part is not prepared to rekindle the relationship.

At around this point, Jerry, who has moved on to another city, discovers a woman about to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge; even when she throws her purse at him and yells at him to get away, Jerry simply talks gently to her, encouraging her to come down and talk to him about her problems. Meanwhile, Chris discovers the gang member who helped the man's daughter, who reveals that he was brought into the 'pay it forward' movement when he was rescued from the police by a homeless woman in a car. Having located the woman (played by Angie Dickinson), she tells Chris that she herself was given the idea by her daughter—who turns out to be Arlene.

Arlene seeks out her mother, Grace, whom she has not seen in three years. She says she wishes to say something to her and gives her mother the gift that enables Grace to have faith that she can become sober for a few days, long enough to visit the family and see her grandson: Arlene tells her mother that she forgives her for everything.

Chris finally identifies Trevor as the originator of "pay it forward," and conducts a recorded interview at the school. Trevor explains his hopes for the concept, but voices his concerns that people may be too afraid to change their own lives in order to make the whole world a better place. Eugene and Arlene are both present during the interview. When Eugene hears Trevor's words, he realizes that he and Arlene should be together.

As Eugene and Arlene reconcile with a passionate embrace, they hear shouts and scuffling outside. Trevor has come to the defense of his friend Adam who is the third person he is trying to help who is also being attacked by bullies, and is trying to fight them off, although they are older and bigger. As Eugene and Arlene run down to stop the fight, the main bully who is a gangster-like boy impulsively pulls out a knife. Trevor is pushed onto the boy with the knife and is thus inadvertently stabbed in the abdomen. Trevor is rushed to hospital, where he dies from the stabbing.

Terribly distraught, Arlene and Eugene are later watching a television news report about "pay it forward" and Trevor's death, and learn that the movement has grown nationwide. Venturing outside, they see hundreds of people gathering in a vigil to pay their respects to Trevor, with yet more people arriving in a stream of vehicles visible in the distance as the movie ends.

In 1969, Pasadena, California, a young Mexican couple rushes to the mansion of wealthy medium Shaun San Dena (Flor de Maria Chahua). Their son had stolen a necklace from a group of gypsies three days prior, and has been complaining about seeing and hearing ethereal creatures. San Dena tries to help the boy in a seance, but she and the boy's parents are attacked by an unseen force, which leads to the floor opening up under the boy when he is pulled into Hell by demonic hands. Dena states: "We will meet again."

In Los Angeles, California, in 2008, loan officer Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) hopes to be promoted to assistant manager over her co-worker Stu Rubin (Reggie Lee). Her boss, Mr. Jacks (David Paymer) advises her to demonstrate that she can make tough decisions to get this job. Christine is constantly thwarted by Stu who proves himself to be quite devious. Stu goes out of his way to show Christine to be incompetent even going as far as ordering lunch when Mr Jacks does in order to belittle her. During this lunch errand Christine vists Clay, her boyfriend, who has just been promoted. He is a keen coin collector and as Chrstine works in a bank she provides him with rare coins found in circulation. On this occasion she hands him one such coin and he lovingly thanks her before placing it in a envelop in his bag for safe keeping. On returning from lunch Stu, once again, tries to belittle Christine by claiming the lunch order is incorrect.

Christine is visited at the bank by Sylvia Ganush (Lorna Raver) who asks for a third extension on her mortgage. To prove herself to Mr. Jacks, Christine denies Ganush the extension. Ganush resorts to begging for help when Christine screams for security. Security guards escort Ganush out with Mr. Jacks complimenting Christine on how she handled the situation.

Upon leaving the bank, Christine is attacked in her car by Ganush. After a violent struggle, Ganush removes a button from Christine's jacket and uses it to place a curse on Christine. Later, Christine's boyfriend, Clay Dalton (Justin Long), tries to comfort her. They pass a fortune teller's store, where they meet the fortune teller Rham Jas (Dileep Rao), who tells Christine that she is being haunted by an evil spirit.

Alone at home, Christine is attacked by the dark spirit causing minor injuries. Clay assumes that Ganush attacked Christine again which Christine denies as she didn't see anyone. That night, Christine has a dream about Mrs.Ganush attacking her in bed. At work the next day, she has a nosebleed, soaking Mr. Jacks. Fleeing work, Christine tries to find Ganush at the home of her granddaughter Ilenka (Bojana Novakovic). Christine learns that Ganush died the previous night, and Ilenka is in the process of holding a memorial service for her. Christine then returns to Rham Jas, who explains that the spirit haunting her is a powerful demon called the Lamia that will torment for three days before taking her to Hell. Rham Jas suggests a sacrifice to appease the demon, which leads to Christine killing her pet kitten. At a dinner party with Clay and his parents, Christine is still tormented by the Lamia, which frightens the Daltons.

Further attacks from Ganush persist, which lead to Christine and Clay deciding to pay $10,000 to enlist the help of the powerful medium Shaun San Dena (Adriana Barraza). San Dena prepares a seance, to trap the Lamia's spirit in a live goat and kill it, vanquishing the spirit. This plan fails as the Lamia attacks Rham Jas and Christine vowing that it will not rest until it takes Christine's soul to Hell. San Dena banishes the Lamia from the seance, but dies in the process. Rham Jas soon tells Christine the only way to get rid of the curse is to give the cursed item to somebody else as a gift, thereby passing the curse on to that person. Christine seals the button in an envelope but during a car journey with Clay she mixes it up, accidentally, with a number of other letters before managing to retrieve it.

Trying to find a recipient, Christine eventually decides to give the button to Ganush (She considers Stu but at the last minute decides she just can't do it). Christine drives to the cemetery where Ganush is buried and digs up her grave. In a torrential downpour, Christine jams the envelope in the old woman's mouth, formally giving it as if it were a gift.

The next day, Christine goes to Los Angeles Union Station to meet Clay, who is preparing to propose to her; they have plans to spend a relaxing weekend in Santa Barbara. As the train approaches, Clay gives her the envelope with the button in it saying she had dropped it in his car earlier. Christine then realises she must have picked up Clay's envelope, from the car, containing the rare coin she had given him a few days ago. Horrified, Christine falls on the train tracks as a train barrels towards her. Right before the train hits her, demonic hands pop out of the ground which then opens up into a fiery hole. Christine screams in terror, but Clay can not assist her as the train passes between them, and all Clay can do is watch in horror as the Lamia's minions take his girlfriend to Hell to burn for eternity. Clay then looks at the button after seeing what happened.

Scarlett - Movie Classic

A Sequel to Margaret Mitchell's "gone with the wind"

This soapy but highly watchable television "sequel" to Gone with the Wind, the most popular Hollywood movie ever made, has nothing to do with memories of a vanished antebellum South. But it does end up in Ireland, where the determined Scarlett O'Hara Butler (played with frosty passion by Joanne Whalley-Kilmer) turns hard times into an opportunity by buying the ancestral home of her family. Before that happens, however, Scarlett fights to win back the estranged Rhett Butler (manfully portrayed by Timothy Dalton), often seen in the company of other women, struggles for control over the homestead Tara, and gets caught in yet another compromising position with poor Ashley Wilkes (Stephen Collins). The troubles never stop (Scarlett's Ireland adventures land her in a heap of trouble from which only Rhett can save her), but this TV miniseries wisely keeps the focus on these captivating characters, their entangled histories, and the collective destiny that refuses to part them. The show also looks good: the location scenes in Ireland are particularly handsome, and there is something unaccountably satisfying about seeing Scarlett and Rhett walking through peaceful green hills.
